What makes a mobile RPG skill tree actually fun
I've played a lot of mobile RPGs, and the skill tree is usually where they win or lose me. A good tree gives you meaningful choices early. A bad one drip-feeds tiny stat bumps until your eyes glaze over.
The best systems, like the one in Emberfall Saga, let you respec cheaply. That single feature changes everything — suddenly you're free to experiment instead of terrified of wasting points.
Another thing I look for is clarity. If I can't see how a skill changes my playstyle, I won't care about it. Icons and numbers only get you so far; the effect needs to feel different in battle.
My takeaway after all this grinding: depth is nice, but readable depth is better. Give me choices I understand and the freedom to change my mind, and I'll happily sink hours into a tree.
